I Don't Use Bases Stamp

It's surprising how this is one of my popular deviations, so I would like to throw out a message just for the enjoyment of it. I feel the need to explain and to defend for the sake of writing prettily on the internet and having one person - most likely myself - view it. (Keep in mind guys, I do not create deviations to raise my views/popularity on deviantART. I haven't taken a single college course in the visual arts field nor have I taken any high-school courses - just so you know. I'm not going to raise my popularity anytime soon nor do I intend to).

Now there were only a few stamps before mine that proclaimed their lack of use of bases, and I actually haven't seen them before, which is why I've created this one. Now I search for stamps about bases, and they're plenty of them made in the summer that have reached better popularity than mine since - well - they look better or the artist is just popular, unlike myself. I absolutely have nothing wrong with being unseen, nothing at all.

However, what annoys me is the statements most of them create about bases. Alright, so. You don't use bases - that's given, but you are against the people that make them? Use them? You all are ridiculously narrow-minded if that is the case.

Base creators are kind people who enjoy making bases for other people's use. It's true that there will be those who do it specifically for views and popularity (but what is wrong with that? It is their own art), but there are also those who feel the genuine need to give. They did nothing but give resources. They create stocks with their own bare hands and computerized utensils, people.

The majority of the base users even kindly credit their source, and I see nothing wrong with that. They do not claim that their creation is fully their own, they did have some guidance. Bases are simply for poses because there are people who still haven't figured out to draw their own, but there's nothing wrong with that. Most base users use bases for the enjoyment of it or because it's simply easy for them - not for the sake of art.

Perhaps it's annoying that every now and then, a base user will "show-off" their created character, and that's fine to call that person off and rip his ego to shreds. Base users I know are not like that however - they are reserved, and they have reasons to use a base. Perhaps they really can't draw, and they just needed help creating an appearance of a character they role-play. Perhaps they just like drawing eyes and hair? You are simply exaggerating in your heads their actual reason. There is no reason to hate bases, and even worse, to create a stamp out of your irrational hatred.

Now I do not use bases - I take the time and effort to create my own lineart. That is exactly what the stamp says. I am not against the base-users at all, I'm simply saying that I can make my own - that I've grown not to use guidance (I've never actually used a base before). However ridiculously ugly my drawings are, I make my own. This stamp was simply for your self-esteem in relation to drawing.

So, what I've said on March still stands:

"Rejoice for the people who do not use bases."
